it’s the barre chord closest to the headstock, where the strings are the hardest to push down.
plus, it’s one of the only barre chords that have no barless version in open tuning.
Yo Marty, I am really learning with your video’s!! Who ever expected i would learn some stuff on you tube!
Great ideas! Keep going!
Doesn’t it? I thought if you barre the high e and B strings on the first fret, G on the second and D on the third… that would be an open F.
I know what you mean about it being on the first fret though. Although, I found that as soon as I could play Barre chords in general, I could play the F as well
they’re just being sarcastic
I think this guy is dedepick. Willie Waller!!!
what guitar is this pls?
if i’m not mistaken..is a taylor guitar..this guy is awesome..
Great lesson marty…thanks
you’re correct about the the open F chord.
you´re da man Marty…thank´s again for a great lesson ….
It’s a Taylor GS.
one of the best teachers on the web… thanks a lot Marty
HAHAHH, Cowboy Chords!! Good lesson man,
great video marty. thanks. would make more sense to see the strum pattern as well anyway.
This scratches that itch I’ve had for a while. Thank you kindly, good sir.
Every time I have this video (as well as a couple othes) up to practice and my 5y/o sidekick is around, she’s asks to watch/hear “Mighty Shortz.”
Yo MARTY ! Im a little confused on the right hand when strumming the full chord and playing the embellishments. To get technical ARE YOU TAKING LITTLE BREAKS WITHIN THE STRUM TO PICK THE NOTES or are my hammer ons just not that strong cause im pretty sure they are strong. hahaha. help anyone.
Hey scotttheRobot, it’ll all come in due time with practice mate. To answer your question, you can do both. Marty starts by showing little riffs you can pick in between chords, and then starting around 5:12, he shows you that you can hammer on notes while strumming the full chords.
Practice hammer ons within the full open chord strum, AND practice little picking riffs after strumming the chord a couple times (which I personally find to be a harder concept than hammering on during full strums).
that was cool…
You guys are life savers. I was looking for something like this for ages. And yet I found somethign easy to learn that sounds really cool. Thanks a lot.
Why would I give some other teacher 30 bucks an hour to teach me under the bridge when i ve got my man Marty hookin me up with wicked lessons?
thank you im still learing but i have been picking at that scale for a while just playing around but had no idea what it was. you showed me what i was doing wrong thanks guys. keep up the good work
hey marty what strings do you use, I like the tone alot. Im struggling finding a good tone with my accoustic right now.
ohh awsome
ur right hand just strums brother. don’t worry bout takin breaks just play the “embellishments” with the left hand as you strum try to strum from the string ur pickin with ur left hand if u can that will give it the right sound
